Congratulations to the new junior members of NHJS.

National Honor Society President: Ali Hassan Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu, My name is Muhammad Ali Hassan, and I am a junior at the Michigan Islamic Academy. Before coming to MIA, I studied for four years in Masjid Bilal, and was able to memorize the entire Holy Quran during the time I spent there. This is my second year at MIA, and I have been elected as the president of our chapter of the National Honor Society. Alhamdulillah, I have had some past experience with the NHS, taking part in some of their activities from time to time last year. I am a candidate for the early graduation program, so InshAllah this will be my second and final year with MIA, and after graduating, I hope to go to the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor. National Honor Society Vice President: Meryam Nahlawi Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu. My name is Meryam Nahlawi, I am 15 years old and in the 10th grade in Michigan Islamic Academy. I am the vice president of my school’s National Honor Society and Model United Nations. My favorite subject is and always will be math. I also enjoy hanging out with family and friends and playing sports. My dreams are to graduate from this school and attend the University of Michigan Ann Arbor. I first came to MIA in 4th grade, and at the time, believe me, NOBODY expected me to reach such a high position. Alhamdulillah, it is only by the Grace of Allah that I have been accepted for this job. Academically, I try to be the best I can be, and, Alhamdulillah, I have loving parents who help me on my way. As a person, I like to read, play video games, and write stories. I will, Inshallah, try my best to serve the MIA student body at all times. I ask Allah to Guide us to the best in all our affairs and Grant us Jennah. Ameen, Wassalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu.

Treasurer: Sumayya Atmet Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu. My name is Sumayya Atmet and I am the treasurer of Michigan Islamic Academy’s National Honor Society. I am in the 10th grade and this is my 10th year attending MIA. My favorite subjects are math and science; when I grow up, I want to be an engineer, inshallah. My hobbies include reading, stamp collecting, and arts and crafts. I am looking forward to the projects that NHS will do.

Historian/Reporter: Rama Zouabi Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu. My name is Rama Zouabi; I am the reporter/historian of Michigan Islamic Academy’s National Honor Society. This is my second year at Michigan Islamic Academy I have been attending Islamic schools all my life. I like ice cream and my favorite subject is social studies. Inshallah this year NHS will accomplish a lot and my Allah bless us and all the muslimen.
