Welcome to the 2nd Grade!

Welcome to Second Grade!
Sr. Amel

Dear Parents, Assalamu Alaykum.

I would like to welcome you to a new school year. Insha’Allah, you and your families had a
relaxing and enjoyable summer. I am excited to be teaching your child second grade this year.
My name is Amel El-Mohri and I will be teaching your child Math, Science, Arabic, Quran, and
Islamic Studies. I am also the 2nd Grade homeroom teacher. I graduated in 2012 Summa Cum
Laude from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor in Elementary Education with a major
in Mathematics. This is my ninth year teaching second grade at MIA in a full-time capacity.
Previously, I taught children of elementary grades for more than thirteen years at the MCA
weekend school, covering subjects such as Islamic Studies, Arabic, and Quran. I have three
children who have all graduated from MIA.
I am so excited to work with you and your child. It is going to be a year full of fun, learning, and
lots of adventure. I have always enjoyed working with children to instill in them a love for
learning. It is my goal that your child’s second grade experience is filled with academic, social,
and personal growth, Insha’Allah. I believe that parents are the most important people in their
children’s lives, and that good parent-teacher communication is important for your child’s
success at school. So let’s keep an open communication channel, primarily through email and I
encourage you to reach out to me for any suggestions or concerns.
We are currently going through unusual times, as we are obliged to adopt distance learning to
ensure a safe environment for our children and families. I pray to Allah (SWT) to give us relief
from the current pandemic so we can go back to in-person teaching as soon as possible.
Jazakum Allahu Khairan,
Sr. Amel (amel.elmohri@mia-aa.org)
