Drill Requirements Established by Law for Michigan Schools

• The school must hold a minimum of five fire drills per year, including three before December 1st.
• The school must hold a minimum of two tornado drills per year, including one during March.
• The school must hold a minimum of three school safety drills per year, including one before December 1st and one after January 1st.
• At least one drill (of any type) must be held during a time when students are gathered outside of their regular classrooms, such as lunch or recess.
